Arts In Place
14th to the 17th of October 2015
Beam presents a series of events exploring the ‘Arts in Place’. Taking place from the 14th to the 17th of October 2015 at the Orangery in Wakefield, the events will explore the impact artists and their partners can have, working with communities, business and the built environment to make better places and spaces.
Event series includes –
- Presentations by leading artists and practitioners – Turner Prize nominated, Assemble; Michael Pinsky; Nayan Kulkarni; re-form Landscape Architecture; John Newling; Bureau of Silly Ideas; Bauman Lyons Architects; Andrew Dixon; Lewis Biggs; Jo Fairfax, DLA Architecture and more to be announced
- Launch of a ‘New Manifesto for the Public Arts’ - an open forum event presented in partnership with the Farrell Review of Architecture
- Bureau of Silly Ideas launch a new commission taking place on the streets of Wakefield during October
- Ideas, debate, networking and food – all coinciding with British Arts Show 8, launching in Leeds on 9 October

- Wednesday 14 October, 2-5pm ARTS IN PLACE: Engaging the Public – Speakers: Bureau of Silly Ideas, John Newling
- Wednesday 14 October, 6-8.30pm ARTS IN PLACE: Integrating Art into Public Places – Speakers: Michael Pinsky, re-form Landscape Architecture, Jo Fairfax, DLA Design Group
- Friday 16 October, 11am-4pm ARTS IN PLACE: ‘A New Manifesto for the Public Arts’, presented in partnership with the Farrell Review of Architecture – Speakers: Assemble, Lewis Biggs
- Saturday 17 October, 10am-1pm ARTS IN PLACE: Lighting the City – Speakers: Nayan Kulkarni, Artichoke / Lumiere Festival and more to be announced
