EXTRA-ORDINARY KNOWLEDGE
22nd September 2013
12-5pm
Old Ford Lock, River Lee Navigation, Dace Road, E3 2NN
This event, produced by The Floating Cinema in collaboration Experiments in Household Knowledge, a project by public works, provides a showcase for fantastic examples of local knowledge and skills from around Hackney Wick. To those 'in the know' these might seem 'everyday' but to the rest of us they can seem like magic. Come along and experience a Smörgåsbord of skills: from sign writing to comfrey fertiliser production, bamboo bikes to brewing!
Experiments in Household Knowledge are a series of collaborations with East London ecological and environmental innovators. The project explores and showcases unusual and inventive ways of making and experimenting. From new gardening techniques to alternative forms of energy production or innovative recycling methods.
It is a public works project commissioned by the London Legacy Development Corporation anticipating the opening of the new Timber Lodge in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The project is also part of R-Urban, a two year long project establishing practices and networks of urban resilience supported by The EU Life+ programme on environmental governance.
FREE but booking is advised.
