‘Walking Silvermines’
Launch of Public Artwork: Sunday 21 August 2011
‘Walking Silvermines’ is a public artwork by Fiona Woods with Clive Moloney, Sally-Anne McFadden, David Wrenne and the people of Silvermines, Co. Tipperary. It is the culmination of a four year public art process, and takes the form of a walking route around the village and surrounding mineworks, a map & guidebook, and a website with 12 pieces of audio contributed by local people.
The project will be officially launched on Sunday 21 August, taking the form of a walk of the route, leaving St. Odhran’s Hall, Silvermines at 10am, followed by lunch in the hall at 1pm where copies of the ‘Walking Silvermines’ guidebook will be available.
The work can also be viewed as a virtual tour at www.walkingsilvermines.net. All are welcome, but please RSVP for catering: Text 087 7821565.
‘Walking Silvermines’ has been funded through an Arts Council of Ireland’s Project Award, and was developed with support from North Tipperary County Council.
