A conference entitled HOUSING MERZ in the 21st Century, The artistic legacy of the Merz Barn and Kurt Schwitters in Britain, will take place at Tate Britain on Thursday the 27th November 2014.
Hailed by the Museum of Modern Art in New York and Tate Britain Director Penelope Curtis as, "..an art project of great national and international importance", the conference references the restoration of DADA pioneer artist Kurt Schwitters' last great Merzbau architecture-as-installation experiments - the Elterwater Merz Barn in Cumbria, NW England.
The exhibition and conference are aimed at generating international awareness and support for Phase II development of the project, and will be opened by the the Arts Minister, Ed Vaizey, and Dr Penelope Curtis, Director of Tate Britain at Tate Britain, 1- 2pm on Thursday the 27th November 2014.
