Interactive Architecture & Media
How do digital technologies change the media of architecture? Sensory and responsive systems open up rich novel forms of participation, interaction and play. They challenge notions of architecture as static and predictable, instead encompassing the ever changing gestures and exchanges of people, technologies and their environment. Much is made of computational design today, often synonymous with producing complex form and harnessing the latest fabrication techniques. While these are no doubt compelling, computation also allows us to design complex behaviour - to build architecture that responds to people, the environment, and the digital and social landscapes that we live in. From products and furniture, to installations, building envelopes and urban design, two designers Jason Bruges & Ruairi Glynn, leaders in this emerging field of Interactive Architecture will present and discuss their work.
