Networking events for public realm artists

The events are taking place around the South East from October to November 2009

Figure Ground is running a series of events for artists working in the public realm, to network and collaborate, in locations around the South East. It is about artists working in public getting together and debating key issues relating to their practice, in a format that is open, participatory and creative.

Artists will be asked to bring elements of their own practice and thinking to the events. To collaborate with each other and respond to sites, with the aim of exploring issues around practice, sparking networks and ideas, and contributing to critical debate about the role of public art.

There are 50 places for each event and tickets cost £10 (including lunch and refreshments). There are some bursaries to cover tickets and travel. Applications are now invited from artists working in the public realm.

The events are taking place around the South East, Brighton: Saturday, 24th October, Bracknell: Thursday 29th October, MK: Friday 6th November, Chatham: Friday 13th November.

Interested artists can email: [email protected] for further information. Application deadline is 11th September 2009.

Those with queries about making an application can get in touch by email or phone /text 07766 593 480 (Fridays are best).
