Secret Cities: Immersion photography workshop in Edale - Peak District

Saturday 2nd of August

Curated Place have announced their next Secret Cities: Immersion workshop will take place on Saturday the 2nd of August 2014 and will see the team leaving Manchester and taking to the hills of the Peak District. The workshop invites participants to learn the practical and artistic skills employed by Andrew Brooks, as well as access to Photoshop training from the artist himself.

Starting at 10.30am at Edale station participants will be exploring Landscape Photography along a 10km circular photographic walk from the valley bottom to the geologically dramatic edges of Kinder Scout. Taking in Golden Clough, Nether Tor, Upper Tor and an energetic stream scramble back down the walk will take a full day and involves an easy but strenuous climb.

The walk will then be followed up by an optional evening of Photoshop training with Andrew Brooks back at Manchester Central Library’s Media Lounge on the 6th August. (Places will be made available as a priority to people who come go the walk.)

Bringing together artists, institutions and audiences in collaboration this summer the Secret Cities team are moving away from a more traditional photographic exhibition format and into a new interactive projection based installation with the support of Arts Council England, Manchester Libraries, People's History Museum and the people behind some of the UK's largest lighting events.

The walk is FREE but there are limited places for safety reasons.
