Taunton Deane Public Art and Design Panel symposium
Thursday 25 Macrh 2010, 2pm - 5pm
Taunton Deane Public Art and Design Panel would very much like you to join us for an afternoon symposium to review the commissioning recommendations for public art along the River Tone in Taunton arising out of the Routes, River, Rail: Connectivity and Legibility (RRR) study.
The Public Art and Design Panel is a partnership drawn from Taunton Deane Borough Council, Project Taunton, Somerset County Council and Taunton and District Civic Society with support from Public Art South West.
Having adopted 'Public Life in Public Space': Taunton Deane's Public Art Code', the panel has appointed Diana Hatton, a freelance advisor for Public Art South West, and artists, Sue Palmer and Natalie Parsley to consult creatively with interested parties and the public about the challenges of way finding and the use of routes, both current and future, along the river. They have also been exploring how people appreciate the river and use the river corridor for leisure and recreation, as well as the improvements they would like to see made to enhance their experiences.
The symposium will review the creative plans put forward in order to secure final agreement from the key agencies and the Public Art and Design Panel.
It will take place in the John Meikle Room at Taunton Deane Borough Council from 2pm to 5pm on Thursday 25 March.
Further details of the afternoon's programme will be available shortly. Meanwhile, we would appreciate a provisional response as to whether you will be able to attend.
