Deadline: May 20, 2009

Wales Hosts The Ashes

Given the double occasion of the inauguration of a new Test Ground in the SWALEC Stadium and the opening match of the 2009 Ashes Series, the Welsh Assembly Government, the England and Wales Cricket Board and Glamorgan Cricket are combining with the Arts Council of Wales to bring Art and Cricket together in this significant project.

The residency is for eight weeks leading up to, during and beyond the Test Match itself, which is scheduled for 8th – 15th July 2009. A legacy artwork will also be commissioned following the residency period.

Safle is seeking applications from artists with a quirky and individualistic approach, working in any media, to engage with the wide range of people involved with the event plus the match crowds, officials and local community.

There is a residency fee of £8,000 and up to £11,400 available for the legacy artwork.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday 20 May 2009.
