Weymouth Esplanade Enhancement - Opportunity for Artist
Deadline: June 8, 2009
Weymouth and Portland are hosting the sailing events for the 2012 Games and in preparation several major projects are taking place in and around Weymouth and Portland to improve facilities for both residents and visitors alike.
The largest new project will be the enhancement of the Esplanade, the long sweeping seafront lined with mostly Georgian terraces. Regenerating the Esplanade will include new landscape works to redefine the Esplanade, the commissioning of a new Beach Rescue Centre building and a replacement for the current Tourist Information Centre, as well as new contemporary artist led festival lighting.
Weymouth and Portland Council now wish to appoint an artist to collaborate with the other design professionals and in particular with landscape architects currently in the process of being selected for the Esplanade.
