Cardiff County Council

The purpose of the Cardiff Public Art Strategy is to build on Cardiff's already rich heritage of public art which spans the last century and forms part of the fabric of its public spaces. The intention is to extend opportunities for the provision of public art and to promote and secure the deliver of high quality imaginative public art projects which enhance the environment, celebrate the city's past and present, and contribute to its distinctive character.

The well illustrated Strategy clarifies responsibilities, identifies opportunities, illustrates the processes involved in developing public art, and looks at maintenance, ownership and decommissioning issues.  A number of key recommendations are identified, which aim to build upon, strengthen and promote Cardiff's collection of public artworks, and an Action Plan sets out short, medium and long term priorities.
