Brief Statement
As a teenager, I wanted to be an engineer. I became an artist, but much of my sculpture uses engineering techniques and I like the qualities of industrial materials. I frequently work in the landscape, enjoying the challenge of the large scale and the elements, and I often find my ideas spring from this, for work for exhibitions and commissions for buildings. The history of a place can also be a source and the materials themselves influence what I make.
Sound has recently found a place in my work, which has always included light, suspension, reflection, colour and movement. I like working in the public arena, involving people who are not primarily interested in art.
