River Chelt Flood Alleviation Scheme
The River Chelt Flood Alleviation Scheme is due to begin on site in April 2000. The Environment Agency through its consultants, Branch Landscape Associates, introduced environmental artists Partnership Art to contribute to the design team.
Initial work by Partnership Arts was concerned with developing an overall art strategy for the programme which will be undertaken over eight phases. Phase 1 provided the focus for establishing a body of ideas including colour schemes, parapet designs, coping designs and special finishes cast into concrete floodwalls.
Many of these ideas are now being worked up in detail with the overall aim of bringing some of the qualities of the Cotswold escarpment down the river course and through the urban areas of the town.
