Norden Farm Centre for Arts
Biography: Julia Manheim
Julia Manheim graduated in Jewellery Design from Central School of Art & Design, London. Since then, she has run her own studio, at first making experimental jewellery and for the last twelve years, sculpture and installation art, often using transformed, discarded materials. Her work has been exhibited widely and is included in many international collections and publications.
A Thames Path Residency in 1996/7 resulted in a solo installation Float in 1999 and the publication of Secret River an artist's book, the following year, which won a McNaughton Review 2000 design award in 2001.
Since 1994, she has worked as lead artist on several public art projects: Braintree Library, Cradley Heath bus/rail interchange and Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, Maidenhead, which gained her an R.S.A. Art for Architecture Award. Currently, she is Consultant Artist for Wolverton Walk, Milton Keynes and is an integral part of the recently formed Quay 2c design team, a practice set up in 2000 for architectural projects.
